The relationship between internet use and satisfaction of life according to elderly¡¯s volunteer participation

Abstract

|
Despite of the speed of change to the information society, the elderly`s information adaption or diffusion is not so fast. This study tries to find out the relationship between internet utilization and satisfaction of life based on data collected through the face to face interview for the residents of Daegu and Kyungsang Buk-Do areas targeted over the 60-years-olds elder adults, dividing the group into a volunteer group and a non-volunteer group to find out moderate effect of volunteer work. As a result, Internet utilization positively(+) affects on social activity and social activity positively (+) affects on life satisfaction for the elderly. Especially, social activity positively affects on life satisfaction regardless of whether volunteer work or not. Based on this result, we can find out the importance of social activity in life satisfaction. In the future, this study can be applied to the development of elderly`s welfare policy.
